WHEN PRAYING AND HAVING MORE FAITH JUST ISN'T ENOUGH

American Bible Society Bible-Based Trauma Healing for the Global Church

As a mental health professional and art therapist,  I was thrilled to discover this program which uses biblical principles and sound mental health care practices in trauma healing. The Bible-based model  of story and art help those affected by trauma, to work through the pain and find healing. The American Bible Society provides training, resources, and support to help the Church respond to trauma in communities around the world and offer a program that leads to sustainable trauma care in any context.

MT ELGON GRADUATION

MT ELGON BIBLE CLASS GRADUATION
Stan began working with this group in 2015. Since he was in Nairobi he,  and several other men,  made the long trek to the Western province of Kenya to the remote town to teach these men and women who were eager to learn God's Word. The students had to travel many miles to reach their classes so this graduation represents many hours of hard work and dedication to the task, earning a 2-Year Diploma in Bible.

Joseph's Mission Trip to the Turkana Northern Kenya

With everything going on in OUR world-politics, politics, and more politics, other parts of the world are suffering. There is a major drought in Kenya and God Bless Joseph and his team for taking grain to one of the most isolated areas. This small sack of flour may seem like a drop in the bucket BUT to these families it represents HOPE for another day and a sign that someone CARES

Women wait for their bag of meal.

A gesture that says, "Someone cares about your suffering."

The look on their faces speaks volumes!

TIME FOR ART IN KENYA

Here in the states when kids start getting ready to go back to school,  our hearts and thoughts turn to Kenya. This year with the new mobile art kits we will be able to spread the healing power of art to even the most remote places in Kenya. The kits are designed with simple instructions, and with activities that are designed to be used with local found art materials.

LIFE IN LAKE NAIVASHA, KENYA

This week Stan has his first official classes at the Crossroads Bible Training Centre.  There are two classes meeting: one in town and one out by the lake. The people are excited to be formally learning the Word of God.  Crossroads has never charged for the one and two year course. When the students graduate they will have gained a quality education and be better prepared to lead their groups.

WHAT'S NEXT??

Crossroads president, Stan Frederick, is back in the states to recharge and brainstorm about the next move for the ministry.  Over the past fifteenth years,  God has been faithful to increase the harvest.

Shortly, before Stan returned he held a pastor's training seminar at Lake Naivasha, about 60 miles form the city of Nairobi. The men there told him they have been praying God would send someone to start a Bible training school in the area  Could this be what's next?

With groups such as the Southern Baptist's International Mission Broad asking 600 missionaries to retire early, the "go ye therefore and teach all nations" command will be an even bigger challenge.  One might ask?..."Where does all that money collected by church go"?  Well, according to a study from the Evangelical Christian Credit Union (ECCU),  82% of their budget goes to personnel, buildings and administration expenses. However, God is still in the business of answering prayer and when God wants to move a mountain, He provides the manpower and the shovel.
