Ephesians 2:8-9 "For by grace you have been saved through faith and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast"

 MAASAI  LEADERS MAKE HISTORICAL DECISION

by Peter Olonapa July 23, 2022

God have now redeemed the Maasai community by the blood of Jesus. Traditionally every 3 to 4 years the Maasai create agemates and an ageset,  a special name which will be theirs for life. They invite the traditional cultural leaders and the chief Maasai witch doctor to bless them and make curses and pronouncements on them and their life. They are also taught unchristian and ungodly values. BUT THANK GOD! This year,  the traditional and political and cultural leaders all said they will never again allow the witch doctor to speak into the lives of the young upcoming generations and instead inviting the Church, through me and other pastors,  into a blessing and naming ceremony for their sons.

We taught them the word of God, life skills, career and spiritual guidance. We prayed for them to receive Christ. We gave them a new name from their spiritual fathers, the agegroup is IRKIMAYIANA, meaning "Blessed by their fathers IRKISHURU" All these minus the witch doctor. Glory and honor all to God.

CROSSROADS BIBLE COLLEGE OPENS AFTER LOCK-DOWN

Classes are back in session at Crossroads Bible College in Tala and Nairobi Kenya.  Everyone is feeling blessed to be able to study together. 2 Timothy 2:15 “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”

Kenya imposes partial lockdown in five counties in new COVID-19 measures.  Crossroad Bible Institute, Tala,  has suspended classes until further notice.

The set of new measures said to avert a national health crisis, also involved suspension of nationwide physical learning in all institutions others than for students sitting the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education Examinations and those in medical training institutions.

Hopefully,  this lockdown will not last over thirty days and classes will resume. Until then, Crossroads students can use the time to study on their own and review their previous assignments.

 SUGUTA MARMAR - NORTHERN KENYA

Crossroads mission statement is about teaching local people so they are qualified to teach others in their community...in their own language...in their own country....and with their own budget.  Joseph Lelurk, a member of the Samburu tribe of Northern Kenya, is a shinning example of the effectiveness of this model.

We met Joseph ten years ago when attended a pastor's workshop which was being held at the guest house where we were staying. Joseph would stay after class and express how much he wanted to take the message of the cross to his people who were living in the most remote and isolated ares of northern Kenya.   Joseph has been faithful to His Father's will for his life and developed one of the most effective local mission teams working in Kenya today. They use cars, motorbike, and local transportation to take the gospel message to areas not reached by Western missionaries...all of this while being a devoted husband and father to four beautiful children. May God continue to bless Joseph in his work for the kingdom.

A BIG CONGRATULATIONS to the 2019 graduates at Suguta Baptist Bible College, Kenya. "Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that need not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth." 2 Timothy 2:15.

JOSEPH RETURNS TO BARAGIO - NORTHERN KENYA

Our good friend, Joseph is back in the "harvest field" of Baragio/Northern Kenya, an area of ongoing tribal conflict. The main road that separates the Samburu and Turkana tribes trading center is known as the "line between life and death." "God Bless you Joseph, for introducing them to the Prince of Peace." For HE HIMSELF is our PEACE, who has made the TWO GROUPS ONE and has DESTROYED the barrier, the DIVIDING WALL of HOSTILITY," Eph2:14 (Joseph is pictures with morans and the village protector).

WHEN PRAYING AND HAVING MORE FAITH JUST ISN'T ENOUGH

American Bible Society Bible-Based Trauma Healing for the Global Church

As a mental health professional and art therapist,  I was thrilled to discover this program which uses biblical principles and sound mental health care practices in trauma healing. The Bible-based model  of story and art help those affected by trauma, to work through the pain and find healing. The American Bible Society provides training, resources, and support to help the Church respond to trauma in communities around the world and offer a program that leads to sustainable trauma care in any context.
